As false reports of an explosion near the Pentagon began trending, investors panicked. This led to over five hundred billion dollars worth of sales in only minutes.
Fortunately, the story was quickly disproven. The markets rebounded after it was discovered that the image was fake.
This comes only a week after the CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman testified before Congress recommending greater regulation on artificial intelligence.
