Border Patrol finds 13 dead migrants within one week

U.S. Customs and Border Protection released a shocking statement earlier this week, writing that agents had discovered the bodies of 13 deceased migrants along the southern border last week.

All of those recovered were reportedly the victims of an intense heat wave hitting the southern United States. Border Patrol further reported that they conducted over 200 rescue operations for migrants suffering from the intense heat.

Heat is reportedly just one of the risks along what the United Nations deemed the world’s deadliest land border. But it’s not just heat, as Texas authorities recently recovered the bodies of four migrants who drowned in the Rio Grande River.

Last year, Border Patrol reported over 800 migrant deaths, a number that was up from 720 just two years ago.
