China just told the international community that it’s ready to mend its relationship with the US.
Chinese Vice President Han Zheng stated on Wednesday that there are many positive signs and high expectations that the world powers will come together to work on global challenges.
The statement heightens expectations for a sideline meeting between President Biden and President Xi Jinping later this week in San Francisco.
The last time the top leaders met was November 2022, before relations were derailed by reports of spy balloons and secret Chinese police stations on U.S. soil. But there have also been several meetings between top U.S. and Chinese officials since then.
This includes Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who have all visited China in the past year.
