Christian artists Shane Bernard and Shane Everett, popularly known as “Shane and Shane” released a new album today that is specifically geared for families and children titled “Worship in the Word.” This is the latest venture for the band that has blessed the Christian community for many years with theologically rich, gospel-driven songs of worship.

Shane and Shane have been singing together for over 15 years after meeting in college. Their mission since starting has been to “glorify the Lord instead of themselves and they do so by writing music that is biblically based, lyrically rich, and sonically engaging,” according to the band’s website. For the last several years they have focused their attention on creating the Worship Initiative, an online resource and community meant to encourage and equip worship leaders and their teams.”

The album will explore the simple truths of the gospel in a way that children can understand by bringing Christian worship back to its ancient roots of singing the scriptures.

Bernard said in an interview with Baptist Press,

We didn’t really know what to sing, what to do, when we started, so much so that we were like, hey, I guess we’ll just sing the Bible over the years. We’ve just realized, man, I just don’t have a ton to say. (God’s) got a ton. I mean, I can say things, but they’re not active and living. But I know something that is, and He’s proven that over and over again in our own lives, just by singing the Scripture.

Everett added to his partner’s words, saying,

We’re all His kids, and so, I think we can all enjoy these songs. As people watch and as parents and children are learning the truth of God’s Scripture, (I hope) that it would do what it has always done, and that is transform hearts by the Holy Spirit and His Word. Because we believe the Word of God is powerful, active and doing stuff that we could never do. That’s our prayer for this project and in this record. Hopefully, people will be reminded of all these great promises and truths from God’s Word that He has for us as kids.

Barnard and Everett are each married and have a total of 7 daughters between the ages of 5 and 13 – Barnard has four and Everett has three. Everett told the Baptist Press that there are not many worship resources geared for children in that age range, so this album was one that they felt personally connected to.
