Elon Musk says government can read private DMs between users

Could the government be reading your direct messages? Twitter CEO Elon Musk says yes.

The tech exec originally purchased Twitter after concerns the platform violated free speech. He has since released a series of “Twitter files” that show government collusion to control public information.

Now, he says the U.S. government has full access to user content. This includes being able to read private messages.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson shared the clip as a teaser for an interview on his program.

Musk did not explain this impacts all users or is only under limited circumstances. Meanwhile Twitter users are calling on Musk to explain what steps he’s taking to stop spying on the platform
