Facebook removes Christian ministry profile for six days

In a move that is making many Christians suspicious, Facebook removed the page of a Christian ministry for a week before restoring it, claiming it was “incorrectly removed.”

Help 4 Families, a Christian ministry that promotes biblical sexuality, reported that the social media giant had frozen the ministry’s account to appease complaints from LGBTQ revolutionaries. The account was reportedly frozen on Feb. 2 and reactivated on Feb. 8.

The ministry heads further argue that Facebook did this to stay in lockstep with the current cultural witch hunt against “conversion therapy.”

Ministry director Denise Shick spoke of Facebook’s hypocrisy in removing a place that is truly a safe space for the sake of appealing to those who are pleading for a safe space:

If we are offering ‘safe places’ to ‘openly share,’ how is that hateful or extremist? We offer opportunities for people to share their struggles without condemnation. That is the definition of love and acceptance.

For over 200 years, people in the U.S. were free to hold differing beliefs and to speak about them without censure. Our voices need to be heard by contacting our congresspersons and senators.

Many Christians and conservatives are calling this a clear and obvious example of censorship targeting Christians. Facebook’s only explanation of the removal was that it was done to prevent “services that aim to change people’s sexual orientation or gender identity.”
