Former modern-day slave criticizes Black Lives Matter

In world where slavery is perhaps more rampant than ever before, those on the left have instead largely chosen to focus on social and racial issues that seem to benefit their political agenda.

There are over 40 million enslaved humans in the world today, but sadly the plight of these souls is often ignored.

In an interview last week with Gary Lane of the Christian Broadcast Company (CBN), a former African slave slammed Black Lives Matter, saying the left-leaning social justice organization does not understand the true injustice of modern-day slavery. Boi Gai Deng is a survivor of slavery in Africa and a current presidential candidate in South Sudan.

Dang told Lane on CBN:

I believe Black Lives Matter does not understand what is going on in Africa. They don’t know what is going on around the world. They need to understand that slavery still exists in Africa today. … More than 9.2 million [people] are still in captivity in slavery. I was beat up, I was told what to do, and sometimes they used to put chains on my legs to the point where I would become so disciplined to my master.

He further explained that many people in Black Lives Matter “need to listen to people with my background.” Deng hopes to bring his Christian values and the spirit of opportunity he learned from living in the United States to his role in the Sudanese presidency:

We in the Christian community believe in love. We believe in peace. We believe in unity and my life in America taught me so much to the point where if you live in the United States, you are an American citizen and I believe the same philosophy could take place in South Sudan by leadership.
