A new Gallup poll shows church attendance is tracking lower than pre-pandemic levels.
The survey says that overall religious service attendance is 10% lower than it was roughly a decade ago, and about 4% lower than pre-COVID levels.
While the survey doesn’t give a definitive answer for the decline, it’s safe to say that the pandemic has been a catalyst for a lack of religious commitment in many cases.
LifeWay Research gives four reasons for the decline in specifically Christian circles, one of them being the many changes the pandemic brought about in how church can be experienced. Additionally, some people simply no longer feel the need to attend church.
