Gun sales top 1 million for 47th month in a row

Americans purchased more than 1 million guns in June, making this the 47th consecutive month of record-setting gun sales.

That number comes from the National Shooting Sports Foundation, which analyzes FBI data. The group says more than 1.1 million June background checks were likely for gun purchases and transfers.

The news comes at a time when President Joe Biden and other Democrats continue to demand new gun ownership restrictions.

But the shooting foundation’s spokesman, Mark Oliva, said Americans aren’t backing these policies.

“They choose, by the millions, to keep and bear arms,’ Oliva said. “They are keeping alive the vision of our Founding Fathers that this would be a nation that celebrates the ethos of a responsibly armed citizenry.”

Some states have also bucked the president by passing constitutional carry laws, which eliminate permit requirements for concealed carry.
