Houck family seeks $4.35 million in damages after traumatizing FBI raid

Pro-life activist Mark Houck is suing the Justice Department for $4.35 million in damages after the FBI raided his home last year.

The 49-year-old father of seven was arrested at gunpoint after allegedly violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances, or FACE, Act. He was later acquitted of these charges, but now he says his seven children were traumatized at the sight of 20 heavily armed men banging on their door and arresting their father.

The legal claim cites the FBI’s unconstitutional “malicious” and “corrupt” use of “excessive force” in the arrest. Houck appeared before Congress back in May, recounting the traumatic day.

Shawn Carey, president of 40 Days to Life, supports Houck unequivocally, saying “This is more than just a lawsuit; it’s a resounding declaration that the era of targeting individuals for their pro-life stance is over.”
