Illegal immigrant murders five, Texas cities declare states of emergency over Title 42

New information shows that the illegal immigrant who killed five has been deported multiple times.

Francisco Oropesa shot and killed five of his Texas neighbors, including an 8-year-old boy, after being asked to put away his guns for the night. He has since vanished.

But we now know that the 38-year-old has been deported five previous times, mostly under the Obama administration’s soft immigration policies. This includes two deportations in 2009, two in 2012, and one in 2016.

The tragic murders come during rising tension over the coming expiration of Title 42 on May 11.  El Paso’s issued an emergency declaration on Sunday to create resources for the anticipated immigration surge.

The Texas towns of Laredo and Brownsville made similar declarations.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has said several times that the border is closed. Meanwhile, last week, the Biden administration announced an expansion of legal pathways for asylum seekers to discourage illegal border crossings.

But immigration remains a concern especially for border states.
