India Hindu tribe blockading food and medical aid to Christian village

A Hindu tribe is currently blocking humanitarian aid to Christian tribes in light of ethnic clashes in the country.

The conflict broke out in May when the Hindu Meitei tribes petitioned to have the same preferences in employment and land ownership that are extended to the minority Christian Kuki tribes. The Kuki defied the move, as the Meitei are already favored by the local government. The two tribes then began this blockade war.

The government stepped in, ordering the removal of all blockades. The Kuki tribe complied with the order, but the Meitei did not. This has resulted in nearly 10,000 Christians being deprived of critical medical care, alongside reports of lynchings and beatings because of the conflict.
