Internal studies that have been consistent over the last several years by Facebook have shown that teen users’ mental health is negatively impacted by using Instagram. In 2019, the WSJ viewed a Facebook internal presentation in which they said about Instagram, “We make body image issues worse for one in three teen girls.” They also admitted that the study found a small percentage of British and American teen Instagram users said they started thinking suicidal thoughts due to the service.
