Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds quoted the Bible on Friday as she signed a heartbeat bill protecting the unborn.
This was the second time Reynolds signed a heartbeat bill into law. The Iowa legislature passed a nearly identical bill in 2018 saying the protections would take effect the moment Roe v. Wade was overturned, but that law was ultimately challenged and struck down in court. But Reynolds said, “they were wrong.”
A special session confirmed her statement, as lawmakers again passed the bill banning abortion once the baby has a detectable fetal heartbeat.
