Majority of Americans want spending cuts in debt ceiling plan

A new CNN poll found that 60 percent of Americans don’t want Congress to raise the debt ceiling unless it includes spending cuts as well. According to The Daily Wire, this is exactly what the House did.

It passed a bill raising the debt ceiling while simultaneously “cutting discretionary spending.” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says that’s the reasonable goal.

Meanwhile, some Democrats want President Biden to go back to his non-negotiable position. The Progressive Caucus is warning the president not to sign a “bad deal” with the GOP.
