Mexican cartel says sorry for attack on Americans, Lopez Obrador slams U.S. military consideration

New Reporting suggests that a suspected drug cartel members yesterday handed over five gang members to the police.

The act is meant as an apology for the kidnapping of four Americans in the border city of Matamoros. The four Americans were found on Monday on the edge of the city. But two of them were dead.

The U.S. government believes a faction of Mexico’s Gulf Cartel was likely behind kidnappings. The gang members may have believed that the Americans were entering their turf. The cartel released a letter apologizing for the kidnappings and murders.

Meanwhile blowback from American politicians has been fierce, with some calling for the U.S. military to get involved. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador rejected the idea. The Mexican president he would not “permit any foreign government to intervene” in his country.
