New polls indicate how much of an uphill battle President Joe Biden will face in his bid for reelection.
Coming out of The New York Times and Siena College, these polls show that Biden is losing to former President Donald Trump in key battleground states. The six states listed are Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, where Biden trails Trump by margins of 4 to 10 percentage points.
Most respondents to the poll are disillusioned with Biden, saying his policies have personally hurt them. In addition, two-thirds of voters say the country is moving in the wrong direction. These voters blame Biden for this shift and said they are more likely to put their votes toward Trump as a result.
This poll marks a significant shift in these battleground states. Despite Biden winning all six of the previous states in the 2020 election, it seems as though sentiment is beginning to favor Trump this time around. Shortly after these polls were released, former Obama senior advisor David Axelrod suggested Biden drop out of the ’24 race.
