NHL pauses pride jerseys, calling them a ‘distraction’

The NHL is backing out of the culture war. Commissioner Gary Bettman recently announced that teams will no longer wear special pride-themed jerseys during warmups.

Bettman says teams can still choose to hold special pride night events and sell pride-themed jerseys. The policy change comes after several players refused to wear pride-themed warm-up sweaters, citing their personal beliefs.

Meanwhile in another quick sports story, the LSU Tigers won the College World Series last night, marking their first baseball championship since 2009. They defeated Florida 18-4 in Game 3.

The win gives LSU the second most baseball championships among Division 1 schools.
