Mike Pence appears to be one step closer to announcing a bid for the White House now that allies officially launched a Super PAC for the former Vice President.

The pro-Pence Committed to America PAC launched on Tuesday and is led by former eight time Texas U.S. Rep. Jeb Hensarling along with Republican strategist Scott Reed, who managed former Senator Bob Dole’s 1996 nomination-winning presidential campaign.

“The country’s at a real crossroads and the Republican Party needs a strong conservative candidate who can win,” Reed said according to the Associated Press. “Pence has the experience, the unparalleled character, communication skills and the conservative credentials to win both the nomination and a general election.”

The AP reports that Bobby Sparrow, who managed Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s successful 2022 reelection campaign, is serving as executive director and former communications director Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, Mike Ricci, is overseeing the PAC’s communications.

According to Newsweek, citing a New York Times report, Pence intends to run as “classical conservative,” while specifically targeting evangelical voters.

“People know Mike Pence, they just don’t know him well,” Reed said per the AP. “This campaign is going to reintroduce Mike Pence to the country as his own man, not as vice president, but as a true economic, social and national security conservative — a Reagan conservative.”

Last month Pence told CBS News he’d make a decision on whether or not he’s running for president “well before late June.”

Should Pence launch a campaign he’d be adding his name to an ever expanding field of Republican candidates, including his former boss and GOP frontrunner President Donald, former South Carolina Gov. and Trump’s United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and conservative radio host Larry Elder.

In addition South Carolina Senator Tim Scott last month launched a exploratory committee for a presidential campaign and sources tell NBC News that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis – who is widely viewed as Trump’s biggest challenger – will file paperwork with federal election officials within the next two weeks.
