Popular Baptist televangelist, Charles Stanley, dies at 90

The popular TV preacher and former president of the Southern Baptist Convention, Charles Stanley. died this morning at the age of 90.

His ministry said in a statement: “Dr. Stanley lived a faithful life of obedience, dedicated to teaching others how to have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Now he is receiving the joy of his soul — seeing his Savior face-to-face.”

Perhaps most notable for his televangelism, Stanley was inducted into the National Religious Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2018. He was later given their Chairman’s Award in March 2020.

Stanley said this of his life in 2010 “I have one goal: Get the truth of the Gospel to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible, as simply as possible, in the power of the Holy Spirit and to the glory of God.”
