PureFlix to merge with Great American Media

A new Christian media merger deal will impact the world of faith and family TV programs.

Pure Flix, a streaming platform owned by Sony, will join forces with Great American Media. This is a rival to the Hallmark Channel which already operates two separate cable networks.

The merger will see content shared across both platforms. While details are sparse, Pure Flix does have both the popular series “The Chosen” and film franchise “God’s Not Dead” in its catalog. Meanwhile, several Hallmark veterans work for GAM, including former Full House star Candace Cameron Bure.

Great American President Bill Abbott will serve as CEO of the merged entity. He says a partnership with Sony Pictures will let them maximize marketing and content creation. Quote: “This merger will allow us to further our commitment to original, quality content and makes Great American Media and Pure Flix leaders in a large and under-served market.”

Meanwhile, Sony says family-friendly entertainment is still important today.
