It’s no secret that Mexican drug cartel operatives are trying to enter the U.S. illegally and that they are bringing drugs with them, but last week a broken record signified that the border crisis has reached shocking new levels.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents seized nearly $12 million worth of methamphetamine inside a tractor-trailer at the Del Rio Port of Entry in Del Rio, Texas making it the biggest meth seizure in the border port’s history.

“This is a massive seizure of methamphetamine, it is largest in the history of the port and it reflects the steadfast commitment of our officers to the CBP border security mission and their effective application of technology, training and experience,” said Port Director Liliana Flores, Del Rio Port of Entry said in a press release.

Republicans, especially those whose states have seen the first-hand effects of the border crisis, have been calling on Biden for over a year to do something to help those who are trying to stop the flow of drugs, human trafficking, and terrorists across the border, yet Biden has still not even made a personal visit to see the issue for himself.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) wrote an op-ed for Fox News on Monday slamming the Biden administration for playing politics while ignoring one of the biggest threats to America. In the piece, Rubio points out how President Joe Biden has been demonizing “MAGA Republicans” while ignoring the criminal and humanitarian crisis at the southern border.

“The greatest source of lawlessness in America isn’t Republicans — it’s the southern border, where the president’s failed policies are allowing drug dealers to feed the worst overdose crisis in our country’s history,” Rubio said.

Senator Rubio also reminded readers that fentanyl is now the leading cause of death among adults aged 18-45, but noted that adults aren’t the only ones in danger.

According to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents, cartels are using brightly colored fentanyl to target children and young people.

In a recent news release, DEA agents advised the public of the alarming trend happening across the United States. They shared that officers have seized brightly-colored fentanyl and fentanyl pills in 18 states.

“Rainbow fentanyl — fentanyl pills and powder that come in a variety of bright colors, shapes, and sizes — is a deliberate effort by drug traffickers to drive addiction amongst kids and young adults,” said DEA Administrator Anne Milgram. “The men and women of the DEA are relentlessly working to stop the trafficking of rainbow fentanyl and defeat the Mexican drug cartels that are responsible for the vast majority of the fentanyl that is being trafficked in the United States.”

Senator Rubio shared that he feels not enough is being done at the border to crack down on drug smugglers.

“Biden and his fellow Democrats must stop undermining border security. If they want to keep Americans safe and healthy, it’s critical that they start enforcing the rule of law and crack down on illegal immigration, in rhetoric, and in action,” he said.

Special agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said they are continuing to investigate the latest meth seizure in Del Rio, Texas.
