Texas Tech coach suspended for quoting Bible

Texas Tech University has suspended head basketball coach Mark Adams from the team for quoting the Bible with his players.

Texas Tech announced over the weekend that they suspended men’s basketball coach Adams for what they called “inappropriate, unacceptable, and racially insensitive comments.”

Adams referenced Bible verses about workers, teachers, parents, and slaves serving their master, while instructing his team about being coachable.

Texas Tech said that Adams immediately apologized. But Adams denies this and said he simply added context to the verses. He explained, “I said that in the Bible that Jesus talks about how we all have bosses, and we all are servants.”

Texas Tech named assistant coach Corey Williams as interim head coach for the Big Twelve tournament which begins tonight.
