UPDATE – NBA will strip pay from unvaccinated players who do not submit to local mandates

FISM News has previously reported that there is a small remnant left in the NBA who have refused the COVID-19 shot. According to a report by ESPN, the NBA is firing back and cracking down on vaccine mandates.

The league announced Wednesday that players who have not received the jab will be stripped of their game check if city mandates prevent them from legally entering the arena due to vaccination status. Mike Bass, NBA Executive V.P. of Communications, said,

Any player who elects not to comply with local vaccination mandates will not be paid for games that he misses.

This law already applies to San Francisco and New York City, where three NBA teams play. Players such as Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets and Andrew Wiggins of the Golden State Warriors, both of whom have rejected the shot thus far, would potentially be barred from playing in their own arenas if this rule holds. Judging by the trajectory of mandated vaccines in America, it is likely that this rule will expand to more cities as well.
