For the first time in almost 15 years, the United States Men’s Soccer Team will compete in the Olympic Games.

The men’s team defeated Honduras 3-0 this past weekend to punch their ticket to the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris. American soccer fans are delighted to see the men’s team experience some success in a country where soccer routinely takes a backseat. Even in their own sport, the men’s team is often overshadowed by the highly successful and highly controversial Women’s Team.

On Friday, the men’s team captured a victory thanks to an early goal from 18-year-old Paxton Aaronson of the Philadelphia Union. The second goal came from Alejandro Alvarado in the 23th minute, and the last came off the foot of another Philly star Quinn Sullivan.

The last time the American team qualified for the Olympics was at the end of the George W. Bush administration in 2008. That team failed to reach the podium, and every team since up until this year’s squad failed to quality for the tounrament.
