Voters say schools should focus on reading, writing, and arithmetic

A new poll showed what Americans actually want to see taught in public schools: math, writing, reading, science, and social studies.

The nationwide poll conducted by Center Square revealed that when it comes to education, most voters across the political spectrum want public schools to return to the basics.

These results come as academic achievements have been at an all-time low since the pandemic. And in many cases, parents are also tired of fighting the push for race and gender ideology in public schools.

Alex Nester, at Parents Defending Education, said that concentrating on political issues takes “time away from the classroom,” while at the same time, it’s dividing students instead of bringing them together.
