A new Economist/YouGov poll found that 20% of Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 deny the significance of the Holocaust, while 30% believe that Jews hold too much power in America.
The poll noted that the Holocaust deniers came from all levels of education, while it also credited social media influence for the outcome. A different survey showed that antisemitism is the highest among TikTok users.
Rabbi Abraham Cooper, who is the associate dean and director of Global Social Action for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, said “it’s the perfect storm out there.”
Cooper explained that there are several factors at play here. This includes state policies that promote Holocaust denial as well as a generation raised with much information but little perspective, and, likewise, little collective memory of the 20th century.
