Nearly 80% of American voters feel that surgical transgender procedures and treatments should not be performed on minors, according to the results of a national survey conducted by the Convention of States Action and the Trafalgar Group.

The October poll of over 1,000 likely 2022 election voters including independents, Republicans, and Democrats shows that 78.7% of respondents said they believe that minors should be required to “wait” until they are adults to pursue “gender-affirming” procedures including puberty blockers and sex-change operations.

Among Republicans, 96.8% oppose medical transgender procedures on minors, followed by 84.6% of independents who said the same. While Democrats were more divided on the issue, a majority (53.2%) also said that minors should wait to pursue medical gender transitions.

“The idea that young people have to be 16 to drive, 18 to vote, and 21 to drink, and yet can undergo life-altering medical procedures in middle school defies common sense, and the American people see that clearly,” said Mark Meckler, president of the Convention of States.

In one of the more surprising results of the poll, 92.3% of respondents in the 18 to 24-year-old bracket said they oppose trans surgeries on minors, followed by 80.4% of the 65 and older category, 78.5% of 45-64 year-olds, 77.4% of respondents between the ages of 35 and 44, and 62.8% of 25-34 year -olds.

Despite this evidence of the overwhelming opposition to trans procedures on minors, gender treatment facilities have been cropping up all over the nation as pharmaceutical companies and hospitals capitalize on the gender dysphoria movement that now seems almost exclusively to target children.

FISM recently reported that the transgender industry is forecasted to soar to $5 billion over the next decade.
