A Moment in History: Black Friday

In the United States, the Christmas season traditionally begins the day after Thanksgiving. That day has become, in the last several generations, the prime shopping day for the season. Unsurprisingly, it has also become a day filled with controversy as it has fueled the commercialization of secular Christmas celebrations in the West. This unofficial holiday and start of the Christmas season is known to us in America as “Black Friday.”
