ABC News presses Secretary Mayorkas on late border action

The Biden administration and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas are in the hot seat over their late response to the border crisis.

ABC’s Martha Raddatz pressed Mayorkas on the Biden administration’s oft-delayed immigration enforcement. When she asked how many illegal immigrants have been turned away from the border since the law went into effect, Mayorkas said that the ban’s goal was to change the “risk calculus” of those crossing the border.

But Raddatz wasn’t convinced. She then played a clip from three years ago when Mayorkas claimed everything was under control.

Republicans, in particular, responded to the Biden administration’s new border policy as nothing but a game just before the November elections.
