Airstrike targets Iran’s embassy in Syria, killing at least 7 officers

Israel is now targeting Iran in the war against Hamas.

Yesterday, Israel carried out an airstrike that hit the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, killing two Iranian generals and five officers in the process. The AP reports that Israel’s attack on Iranian officials appears to be an escalation of the war on Hamas. Iran is known to support Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza.

Israel did not claim responsibility for the attack. An unnamed Israeli government official told Reuters that the embassy wasn’t a target. But Iran has already vowed to pay back the country for killing some of their top military officials.
