U.S. troops are allegedly preparing to withdraw from Iraq following a reported deal between Washington and Baghdad.
There are around 2,500 U.S. troops stationed in Iraq as part of a coalition formed in 2014 to fight ISIS. The deal calls for a phased withdrawal that will finish in 2026 with hundreds of soldiers leaving in the next 12 months.
Newsmax reported the deal based on anonymous sources involved in the discussions. They say there should be a formal announcement later this month.
