Baltimore sues ship companies over Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse

The City of Baltimore is suing the companies who oversaw the ship that collapsed the Francis Scott Key Bridge last month.

Grace Ocean Private and Synergy Marine Group are accused of staffing an “unseaworthy vessel” with an “incompetent crew.”
The city is also asking a federal judge to reject the companies’ request for a $43 million liability limit. Salvage and repair costs alone are expected to cost around $50 million.

This comes a week after the FBI began investigating claims that the crew ignored warning signs with the power supply.

Only four of the six construction workers killed in the collapse have been found. The families are also preparing to file lawsuits.
