President Joe Biden addressed the U.N. General Assembly earlier today in what will be one of his final appearances on the world stage. It caps a political career that’s spanned multiple decades and ends during global uncertainty.
President Biden called for diplomacy to end both the Gaza conflict and to avert a wider war in the Middle East. He said that a two-state solution in that region would strengthen the U.N. to deal with the threat of Iran and its proxies.
He also spoke of a need to continue supporting Ukraine but said Putin’s war has failed to achieve Russia’s chief goals.
