Biden easily wins South Carolina, GOP upset with RNC chair

It took less than 30 minutes for President Joe Biden to be named the victor in Saturday’s first 2024 Democratic presidential primary contest.

Biden earned 96% of the vote in South Carolina. But despite the landslide victory for the president, voter turnout was a dismal 4%, suggesting a lack of enthusiasm for his reelection bid. For context, former President Barack Obama saw a 20% voter turnout in South Carolina’s primary for his 2012 reelection bid.

On the other side of the aisle, criticism of RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel continues to grow as GOP members claim the committee is in “the worst-ever financial situation” of its history. Other criticisms include a lack of aid, communication, and transparency from the leader.

Now, some are calling on McDaniel to resign. This includes former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who started a website,, pushing for her resignation.
