Biden, Netanyahu have phone call over Gaza War

President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are speaking by phone today in another test of their fractured relationship.

Biden has been increasingly critical of Netanyahu’s handling of the war in Gaza, saying last month that Netanyahu is “hurting Israel more than helping.” Those criticisms have only increased in light of an Israeli air strike that killed seven aid workers earlier this week.

Biden said he was outraged by the incident, while Israel has launched an investigation. Biden currently faces intense pressure at home from progressive Democrats and Muslim voters to withdraw support for Israel – America’s only ally in the Middle East.

Regardless, sources tell CNN he is still expected to green-light an $18 million sale of fighter jets to Israel.
