Biden resists calls to step down in interview with George Stephanopoulos

President Joe Biden is resisting calls to end his re-election campaign following his devastating debate against former President Donald Trump, which greatly raised concerns about his cognitive ability.

During a Friday interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Biden said Democrats have nothing to worry about, saying it was merely a bad night.

Biden blamed his poor performance on a cold. Since the debate, a number of Democrats have called on Biden to resign citing fears he can no longer beat Trump. The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times show Trump leading Biden by six points. Despite this, Biden said he has no plans to step aside.

As far as polling goes, Biden called the race a “tossup,” saying, “I don’t think anybody’s more qualified to be president or win this race than me.”
