Biden team works to reverse low approval for 2024

As President Joe Biden’s polling continues to tumble, his campaign team might be whistling past the graveyard. New CNN polling showing Biden with a 39% approval rating, a 45-percent drop from the start of the year.

But the campaign is shrugging off the polls and saying Biden will win reelection “by putting our heads down and doing the work, not by fretting about polls.”

A White House spokesperson also pointed to recent failed polling predictions, such as the widely anticipated “red wave” in the 2022 midterms that never actually occurred.

Biden’s team plan is now to push the president’s record – touting so-called “Bidenomics” and the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act. But it might be a tough sell – that same CNN poll shows 58% of Americans believe Biden’s policies are making the economy worse.

The only saving grace for Biden is that his most likely rival is former President Donald Trump, who is just as unpopular. FiveThirtyEight shows both Biden and Trump with near identical approval ratings of about 40%.
