Biden, Trump to visit border separately on Thursday

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump will make dueling trips to the southern border on Thursday, setting up a showdown over illegal immigration.

Trump had already scheduled a visit to Eagle Pass, Texas, as he has campaigned heavily on the subject. He vows to close the border and deport all unauthorized migrants on day one if elected.

Biden announced yesterday morning that he would travel to Brownsville, Texas, to counter Trump. He plans to meet with Border Patrol agents and reiterate his calls for House Republicans to pass the Senate’s border bill.

This comes as a new Monmouth poll released yesterday shows that only 26% of Americans approve of Biden’s handling of the border, and just over half of voters now approve of building a border wall.
