Biden’s student debt plans challenged in court

President Joe Biden’s most recent student debt actions are under fire as Republicans say he’s refusing to follow the law.

Kansas and 10 other states are suing the president over his student debt bailout. They say nothing has changed since the Supreme Court last ruled against the president’s student debt actions except the addition of even more “legal errors.”

Notably, the president has written off $144 billion in student debt and introduced the SAVE plan, which lowers payments and then accelerates forgiveness for most borrowers. That plan is estimated to cost Americans to the tune of a $475 billion increase to the national debt over the next 10 years.

Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach blasted the president for continuing to pursue his agenda.

Missouri also filed a similar challenge this week. With seven months until election day, the lawsuits could create a critical setback for the president among younger voters.
