Two high-profile contracts were signed in the professional sports world in the last day, involving NBA star Luka Doncic and European soccer stalwart Lionel Messi.

Doncic, already a superstar at 22-years-old for the Dallas Mavericks, became the first NBA player to sign what is known as the rookie supermax contract extension.  He signed a 5-year extension worth a whopping $207 million.  According to ESPN, Doncic is the first player to be allowed to sign this type of deal because he has been voted to first team all-NBA twice in his career.  Doncic said after the deal was finalized:

Today is a dream come true.  The game of basketball has given me so much and has taken me to so many amazing places. I am humbled and excited to remain in Dallas as part of the Mavericks.

Meanwhile in soccer, international mega-star Lionel Messi will solidify a two-year contract with the Paris Saint-Germain soccer club in France on Tuesday, according to several sources.  The Argentine phenom spent 20 years with FC Barcelona and became one of the highest-paid and most celebrated international athletes of the 21s century.  His new contract with Paris Saint-Germain will grant him the option to play for a third year.

Before the deal with PSG became final, Messi shared his excitement to play against his former franchise:

There is no doubt that I will go to a team that will compete with Barca. I didn’t want to leave, but I have to. And I want to keep winning. That’s my mentality. I want to win.
