‘Blind Side’ inspiration sues family alleging adoption was false

Michael Oher, a former NFL player and subject of the movie “The Blind Side,” is taking to court the family that popularized his life story.

Oher alleges he was never officially adopted by the Tuohy family, but instead was misled by the family into believing that a conservatorship was necessary for him to play college football. Attorney and conservator expert Christopher Melcher broke down what that looked like.

Oher already found his portrayal in the film inaccurate and offensive.

Oher’s petition requests that the court end the conservatorship and order Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy to pay him royalties for the 2009 film. The family has since responded to the petition, saying the claims have “devastated” them.
