Boeing CEO testifies in heated Senate hearing

by ian

Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun testified before Congress yesterday regarding his airline’s multiple mechanical failures.

Democrats and Republicans questioned Boeing’s commitment to safety and quality when reports showed that the company retaliated against its whistleblowers. Republican Sen. Josh Hawley (Mo.) called out the CEO for the lack of safety standards.

Calhoun denied most of the allegations. Instead, he said he was proud of Boeing and its employees.

FAA head Mike Whitaker told Congress that Boeing’s safety culture needs a “fundamental shift” to “address quality and safety challenges.” The FAA is currently overseeing these functions at Boeing.
