The United States continues to fend off Houthi attacks.
CENTCOM confirmed on Sunday it had carried out five self-defense strikes in areas of Yemen controlled by the Iran-backed group. According to Reuters, the U.S. struck “three mobile anti-ship cruise missiles, one unmanned underwater vessel and one unmanned surface vessel ” over the weekend.
CENTCOM says the rebels posed an imminent threat to American ships in the area. The announcement comes as the Houthis claimed to have shot down a U.S. reaper drone yesterday.
At the same time, the group also claimed responsibility for yesterday’s attack on a British cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden, forcing its crew to evacuate as the vessel took on water.
