Biden Administration Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s husband, Chasten, was seen leading children in a pledge of allegiance to the LGBTQ flag and dressing up potatoes as drag queens.

According to a report by The Washington Examiner the video was from last summer when the openly gay transportation secretary’s husband was assisting with a gay summer camp in Iowa. It appeared that the less famous Buttigieg was working there as a Pride Camp counselor.

The video went viral Wednesday when viewers saw Chasten Buttigieg and the campers recite, “I pledge my heart to the rainbow of the Not So Typical Gay Camp, One camp, full of pride, indivisible, with affirmation and equal rights for all.” Following the recitation Buttigieg and the other campers waved flags supporting gay pride and cheered.

According to Daily Wire commentator and one of the video’s posters, Matt Walsh, the video was from an Amazon Prime documentary Mayor Pete released in October 2021. Walsh also asserted that it was not well known because the documentary wasn’t widely watched.

As for Pride Camp, the Examiner reported that it’s an annual event, hosted by the nonprofit organization Iowa Safe Schools, bills itself as “an epic, life changing program for LGBTQ and allied youth” in high school grades.

“Campers will meet other LGBTQ and allied youth who are passionate about creating change in their communities through activism and building relationships,” the camp’s website reads.

“The mission of Iowa Safe Schools’ Pride Camp is to provide a safe and affirming place for LGBTQ & allied youth ages 14-18 to learn valuable life skills and network with other LGBTQ youth in a supportive and nurturing environment.”
