China brings back masking, social distancing to fight pneumonia outbreak

China is reintroducing masks and social distancing as a pneumonia outbreak sweeps across the nation. Thankfully, the World Health Organization was quick to identify the disease and said no unusual pathogens were detected.

Still, China is going on the offensive. Northern areas of the country are reporting hospitals being overwhelmed with sick children.

Many have been diagnosed with what is being called “white lung syndrome,” which is seen as a more severe form of walking pneumonia. Chinese authorities continue to insist this is just part of winter illness and is not a new virus, or even a variant of Covid.

This comes as both China and the WHO are still facing questions about their transparency concerning the origins of the COVID-19 virus.
