Colorado group sues to keep Trump off 2024 ballot

In a move that could have major ramification for the country, a Colorado liberal watchdog group is suing to keep former President Donald Trump off the 2024 ballot in the state.

A group identifying itself as The Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington argues Trump is disqualified under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. That’s the section that bars those who have taken an oath to the constitution from holding office again if they engaged “in insurrection or rebellion” against the United States.

Specifically, they argue Trump violated his constitutional oath as president when he allegedly incited an “insurrection” with the January 6th capitol riot.

A similar move is being pushed in New Hampshire, though Gov. Chris Sununu doubts anything will come of it.

Trump took to Truth Social this week, attacking the efforts to remove him from the ballot as “Election Interference.”
