Columbia Rabbi urges Jewish students to leave campus

A rabbi at Columbia University is urging Jewish students on campus to go home citing “extreme antisemitism,” including threats of violence. Rabbi Elie Buechler issued his warning on Sunday following another night of anti-Israel protests.

Protestors were heard chanting phrases like “burn Tel Aviv to the ground” and “Hamas we love you. We support your rockets too!” Rabbi Buechler said the school is in a state of antisemitic anarchy and, as such, “It is not our job as Jews to ensure our own safety on campus.”

Columbia held virtual classes today in hopes of de-escalating the situation.
