Confidence in Biden’s economic stewardship ‘historically low’

A surprising new poll highlights just how little Americans trust President Joe Biden in handling economic issues.

This information comes from Gallup, which has tracked this data since 2001. Only 38% of Americans have “a great deal or fair amount of confidence” in the current president “to do or to recommend the right thing for the economy.”

This is the lowest amount for a president seeking reelection, as well as one of the lowest measurements overall. By contrast, 46% of U.S. adults say they have confidence in former President Donald Trump.

Divided by party demographic, support for either candidate was largely partisan. But a measure of independent voters reflects the overall trend in this poll – 34% trusted President Biden while 45% placed their faith in Trump.

Data also shows that congressional leaders have the lowest marks for this year. Only 36% have confidence in Republican leaders and 38% have confidence in Democrat leaders. According to Gallup’s summary of the data, American assessment of the national economy is “bleak” to say the least.
