DEA says Mexican cartels operating in all 50 U.S. states

A disturbing new government report says Mexican drug cartels are now operating in every state.

That’s according to a recent analysis from the DEA. Naturally, states along the US-Mexico border have the most activity. But according to the report, the cartels are also leaving their mark in northern states, including Colorado and New York.

They’ve even made it to states as remote as Alaska and Hawaii. Cartels have been at the forefront of the fentanyl crisis which led to drug-related deaths topping 100,000 in 2022 and 2023. The DEA says the cartels have facilitated what federal agents call the “most dangerous and deadly drug crisis the United States has ever faced.”

Former President Donald Trump says he plans to wage an all-out war on the cartels should he get reelected. He says the major cartels should be designated as terrorist organizations.
